Butterfly and Dragonfly Stitcheries

The Butterfly Stitchery is from Sue Spargo’s Craftsy class.  the butterflies are appliqued onto cream-colored wool felt.  I didn’t know I should add an iron stabilizer to the back of it before stitching on it. I will add a stabilizer in the future before I begin to stitch the front.

The Dragonfly Stitchery is my own creation inspired by Ms. Spargo’s Butterflies.  I used a cream-colored woven wool for the base or background.

Both stitcheries are embellished with glass beads, buttons, and various types of threads including cotton, rayon, silk and wool. I used several different types of fabrics in both stitcheries, they include: cotton, satins, silks, velvets and wool felts and woven wools. Other trims are made of polyester and rayon fibers.

Both stitcheries are waiting to be quilted.  I’m not sure what I will use for the binding.  I may used several of the fabrics I used on the backgrounds.  I’m sure what ever fabrics, I use they will be cottons.

Happy Stitching!

Until next time,
